Sumi Tachibana, 93, formerly of Hilo died on June 23, 2015, in a private care home in Fullerton, Calif. Born Oct. 29, 1921, in Papaikou, she worked as an office clerk at Y. Hata and Co. in Hilo.
Friends may call at 5 p.m. Aug. 14 at the Church of the Holy Cross, (440 W. Lanikaula St. for a 6 p.m. service. Burial will be held at 9 a.m. Aug. 17 at Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 1 in Hilo. Family requests casual attire be worn.
She is survived by daughters, Rae Bell of Placentia, Calif., Karen Tachibana of Lancaster, Texas; son, Marc (Sylvia) Tachibana of Aurora, Colo.; stepson, David Tachibana of Kahuku; sisters, Setsuko (Kiyoshi) Takemoto of Papaikou, Junko Shimana of Hilo, and Yooko Raiche of Danvers, Mass.; brother, Takeshi (June) Shimana of Aiea, Oahu; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren.

Delight Veincent
Delight Aala Kenoi Veincent, 69, of Hilo died July 4, 2015, at the Hospice of Hilo Pohai Malama Facility. Born in Hilo, she was a retired food preparation worker at McDonald’s in Puainako, an Army veteran and member of the Panaewa Hawaiian Homes Community Association.
Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Aug. 14 at Dodo Mortuary chapel for a 7 p.m. service. Friends may also call at 9 a.m Aug. 15 at Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2 for a service and burial. The family requests that casual attire be worn.
She is survived by sons, Joseph Veincent, Peter (Jaime) Veincent Jr., Samuel Veincent, all of Hilo; brothers, Harry (Annabelle) Kenoi Jr. of Chatsworth, Calif., Dennis (Denise) Kenoi of Hilo; six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Lucy Albano
Lucy Juliana Albano, 85, of Keaau, originally from Damon Tract on Oahu, died July 28, 2015 at Malama Kapuna Carehome. She was a homemaker.
Friends may call at 9:30 a.m. Aug. 15 at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Kaneohe, Oahu, for an 11:45 a.m. Mass. Burial follows at Hawaiian Memorial Park Cemetery in Kaneohe.

Sanford Higashi
Sanford “Gus” Tatsuya Higashi, 90, of Kealakekua died June 28, 2015, at his residence. Born Dec. 20, 1924, in Honaunau, he was a transportation officer for the Department of Accounting and General Services, a coffee and macadamia nut farmer, member of the American Legion, Kona Historical Society, Hawaii Farm Bureau, Kona Hongwanji Buddhist Temple, Honaunau Kumi No. 2, Kumamoto Kenjinkai and a World War II Army veteran.
Friends may call at 3 p.m. Aug. 15 at Kona Hongwanji Buddhist Temple in Kealakekua for a 4 p.m. service. Family requests casual attire be worn and flowers be omitted.

Kay Kaleookalani Auld Brooks, 59, of North Kohala died Aug. 3, 2015, at Kona Community Hospital. Born Nov. 18, 1955, in Honolulu, she was director of sales and marketing for Ocean Sports Waikoloa and member of Kohala Gospel of Salvation Church.

Harold E. “Bert” Bertelmann, 87, of Naalehu died July 13, 2015, at home. Born in Waiohinu, he was a Ka‘u paniolo, an Airframe and Powerplant professional, and retiree of the U.S. Civil Service, Hawaiian Airlines and U.S. Air Force/Army Air Corps.
Friends may call at noon Sept. 4 at the West Hawaii Veterans Cemetery for a graveside service. A celebration of life follows at Barron Bertelmann’s residence in Waimea.
He is survived by sons, Chris (Gina) Bertelmann, Kevin Bertelmann, Barron (Cathleen) Bertelmann, Edwin Bertelmann; daughters, Karen Corpuz, Roxanne Bertelmann; brother, Roy (Velma) Bertelmann of Arlington, Texas; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.

David Scott Gafford, 59, of Hilo died Aug. 1, 2015, at the Hilo Medical Center. Born in Muskogee, Okla., he was a network technician for Hawaii Small Business Development Center, and a friend of Bill W.

Eric Edsman Sr.
Eric Calvin Edsman Sr., 87, of Kailua-Kona died July 25, 2015, at Hale Hoola in Honokaa. Born Sept. 29, 1927, in Honolulu, he was a retired security guard for Freeman Guards, Securitas and Hawaii Protective Association, a licensed electrician at Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard and member of the American Legion and Honolulu Masonic Lodge Temple.
Services were held.
